Walt Disney World is huge, with so many different on-property resort options. No one resort is convenient to all four theme parks, so if you are looking for a convenient option, you’ll need to consider which one or two theme parks are the most important. Keep in mind that the bus is the only Disney transportation option to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so there isn’t a resort that is specifically convenient to that park.
We’ve received some complimentary and discounted trips to Disney World but have also paid our own way many times. This post contains affiliate links and a purchase/click through may result in a commission paid to us at no cost to you.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
The Contemporary Resort, including the nearby DVC property Bay Lake Tower, is located adjacent to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. There’s a footpath where you can get to the Magic Kingdom in just a short walk, and the Contemporary is also on the monorail route. Just transfer at the TTC (Transportation and Ticket Center), which is one stop over, for a monorail to EPCOT. With Chef Mickey in the lobby and the California Grill on the 15th floor, it’s also an excellent hotel for dining.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
This elegant hotel is also one of the most convenient to the Magic Kingdom. Like the Contemporary, it’s located on the monorail loop and a short walk from the Magic Kingdom. This property offers some great restaurants, including Victoria and Albert’s and 1900 Park Fare.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort
If your plans include EPCOT, specifically the World Showcase section, there’s no more convenient resort than Disney’s Beach Club Resort. You’ll be able to walk directly to the International Gateway entrance and be in the park in no time. You’ll also be a short walk to the Skyliner station and a boat ride (or longer walk) to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There are several restaurants at the resort and many within walking distance, and the Beach Club also offers the Stormalong Bay pool area (shared with the Yacht Club).
Disney’s Boardwalk Resort
I love the whole Boardwalk area of Walt Disney World because there’s a lot to do, and it’s convenient to both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. With several restaurants right at the Boardwalk, and others within walking distance (at the Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan, and Dolphin), this one of the most convenient areas for a family Walt Disney World vacation.
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is adjacent to the Beach Club and shares Stormalong Bay. It’s also convenient to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and is near many restaurants.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
This deluxe resort, also on the monorail loop, is adjacent to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). While there is a monorail station at the resort (to the Magic Kingdom), you can also walk over to the TTC to get a monorail to either EPCOT or the Magic Kingdom. Some of my favorite restaurants are at the Polynesian Village Resort, including ‘Ohana and Kona Cafe.
Skyliner Resorts
With the introduction of Disney’s Skyliner, some additional resorts are also convenient to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. These include Pop Century, the Art of Animation, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Club, and Disney’s Riviera Resort.
