You are at Orlando International Airport (MCO) with the kids after a long, tiring Florida family vacation at one of the Orlando theme parks, and your flight gets delayed by hours. What do you do?
While Orlando International Airport does have lots of shops and restaurants, that’s not going to keep your already tired kids busy for the next 6 hours. Instead, you can be napping, watching television, or even hanging out at a rooftop heated outdoor pool.
The Hyatt Orlando International Airport offers day-use rooms that can be the perfect way to spend the day. The hotel is also a fantastic option for an overnight stay – whether you are coming in for a night or have an early morning flight and want to be near the airport.

I’ve used the Hyatt Orlando day rooms at my own cost and have stayed there overnight several times (again at my own cost).
The Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport is also a convenient airport hotel for an overnight stay. It’s especially helpful are headed out on a cruise at Port Canaveral or have a late-night/early-morning flight.
The Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport offers day-use rooms – available from 10 am-6 pm daily (hours and availability may vary). They are also great to use if you arrive at the airport early, but have a later flight – something that frequently happens if you are returning from a Disney cruise.
Day Use Rooms at the Hyatt Orlando International Airport
If you haven’t been to the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport – it’s a beautiful oasis in such a busy environment. It’s located outside of the airport security checkpoints in the main terminal of Orlando International Airport – just an escalator ride up. The Hyatt Regency is right in the airport, so you won’t have to go outside to get to the hotel.
If you are coming into Terminal C in the airport, you will need to get over to the main terminal. It’s a fairly easy walk/tram ride but it will take some extra time.
The section of the airport with the hotel is in an area that all guests can easily pass by and is easy to find.
There are three restaurants at the hotel, so you’ll have plenty of options. Of course, you’ll also have access to those restaurants and shops in the main airport terminal (before security).
Restaurants at the hotel include:
Hemisphere Restaurant: We typically have breakfast here before getting on the shuttle for the Disney Cruise Line. It’s located on the ninth floor of the hotel with large glass windows overlooking the runways. Hemisphere serves breakfast daily and dinner every night except for Sunday.
McCoy’s Bar and Grill, which is located off the lobby serves lunch, dinner, and late-night snacks.
The Lobby bar is a casual option for a quick drink at the airport. You can also get small plates and sushi here. There are several TVs, including live airport updates so you can track your flight.
In-room dining is also offered at the Hyatt Orlando International Airport hotel. This is a good option if you need to get some work done during your day stay. Food comes from McCoy’s Bar & Grill.
When you are in the hotel, it’s hard to believe that you are in such a busy airport. It really does feel like a completely separate building. It’s also relatively quiet.
Day-use rooms at the Hyatt Orlando Airport are more affordable than overnight stays. They can be a small price to pay for the convenience. While I was there, they offered special day-use rates that were a great deal.
If you do end up needing to extend through the night (if your flight ends up getting canceled), the day-use rate can be applied to a full-night stay. I’m not sure if that’s a regular deal, but you can definitely ask.
Guests getting a day stay will not necessarily get their choice of guest rooms. You’ll get what happens to be available. When I did my day stay, I did not get a room type choice and got one of the standard rooms.
If you are staying overnight, the hotel offers several different room types, including the following:
- One king-bedroom
- Two queen beds room
- ADA King
- ADA Queen
- Runway view king bed
- Runway view two queen beds
- Executive king
- Executive two queens
- Deluxe king
- Business plan queen
Suites are also available.
Room amenities at the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport include a Hyatt Grand Bed, flat screen television, KenetMD bath amenities, coffee maker, hair dryer, and refrigerator. There are also meeting rooms at the hotel.
Before I stayed at the Hyatt Orlando Airport, I assumed it would be a loud hotel – with the airplanes taking off and all of the activity within the airport. But I was surprised at how quiet it really is. I’ve stayed there four times now, and have never had an issue with noise.
The hotel also offers a number of amenities that you’d expect from a Hyatt resort. These include a beautiful rooftop outdoor swimming pool, with food and beverage service.
If you are traveling back to bad weather, this can be a great way to soak up the sun for just a bit longer.
There’s also a full fitness center including cardio and weight machines. Joggers will enjoy the rooftop jogging track.
Day-use guests have full use of all facilities, including the fitness center, outdoor rooftop pool, and room service. You can also eat your meals in one of the restaurants, or at the airport.
You’ll be right IN the airport so it’s just a quick elevator ride down to security. Just make sure that you time things appropriately, as the security lines at the Orlando International Airport can be very long. If you are flying out of Terminal C, just remember that you’ll need to plan a little extra time.
I decided to do a day stay when I had a bunch of time before my flight home after going on the Disney Fantasy. I was exhausted and needed to rest before going home. I was able to sit by the pool and enjoy reading a book and then took a nap for a few hours. It was a great way to enjoy the warm Florida weather before heading back to cold Massachusetts temperatures.
Day use rooms can be booked as walk-ups, so there’s usually no need for a reservation. If you want to be guaranteed one, however, you can contact the hotel directly.
Flying into Orlando International Airport for a Cruise
When my family takes a Disney Cruise out of Port Canaveral, we typically stay at the Hyatt. During our last cruise, on Christmas, our flight was very delayed. We were happy that we were staying at the Hyatt because it was a quick walk (even from Terminal C) to get to the hotel.
Unfortunately, our luggage didn’t make it with us. The front desk staff at the Hyatt was so helpful offering toiletries like toothpaste and deodorant. This was especially important because it was already 2am and we had no way of getting these items any other way.
When we returned to Terminal C to pick up the bags the next morning, it was so much more convenient than staying off the property. This is definitely another thing to consider when looking at the Hyatt. Luckily, they arrived before we had to get on the cruise ship.

We haven't stayed at the Port yet, but we do love the airport hotel!
