Royal Caribbean’s new Utopia of the Seas is an Oasis Class ship, which are among the largest ships in the world. While these ships share the same layout with many of the same restaurants, bars, and activities, some differences exist. The Pesky Parrot is new to the Utopia of the Seas, a tiki bar offering a fun environment and many new drinks. Here’s an overview of the new Pesky Parrot.
Introducing the Pesky Parrot
The Pesky Parrot is a tiki bar located in the Royal Promenade section of the Utopia of the Seas on deck five. It’s in the aft of the Royal Promenade, across from the Rising Tide bar and Guest Services.
Visiting the Pesky Parrot
Because this is Royal Caribbean’s new bar, we found it to be very crowded on day one. Most of the chairs, including the ones facing the Promenade, were taken when we first went by. However, on the afternoon of our last day, when the ship was docked at Perfect Day at CocoCay, it was almost completely empty.
Seating at the Pesky Parrot
While the bar did get crowded, there is a good amount of eclectic seating. There are bar seats, tiki stools, suspended, swinging seats, a couch, and individual chairs facing the Royal Promenade. It’s an interior lounge, however, with no ocean views.
Decor at the Pesky Parrot
The Pesky Parrot feels like an authentic tiki bar. Decor accents include hanging US dollar bills, hanging bikinis, a tiki display by the bar, and a Tropic Like It’s Hot neon sign. The highlight, however, is a parrot audio-animatronic that actually speaks on occasion.
Drinks at the Pesky Parrot
The decor and seating are fun and eclectic, but the best part of this new Royal Caribbean bar is the beverages. You’ll find a unique assortment of tropical drinks, all served in quirky glasses. The one I ordered, the Queen’s Park Swizzle, was as beautiful as it was delicious.
