Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas, the World’s Biggest Weekend, offers so much for families to do. While it only offers three and four-day sailings from Port Canaveral, the ship offers more than anyone can do in a single short cruise. I sailed on the Utopia of the Seas last month and really enjoyed it. Here are 10 best things to do on Utopia of the Seas.
See A Show
Royal Caribbean is known for fantastic entertainment, and Utopia of the Seas is no exception. Options include the big stage show – All In, the AquaShow, the Ice Show, the Effectors Parade, and numerous rotating acts.
Slide Down the Ultimate Abyss
The ten-story Ultimate Abyss is the longest dry slide at sea. Board on the top at the sports deck and ride down to the Boardwalk. It’s a lot of fun and does go quite fast. You’ll want to ride over again and again.
Grab a Bubble Cone
On Utopia of the Seas, unlike other Oasis Class ships, Izumi Hibachi and Sushi is located in Central Park. Izumi in the Park is new to this ship, a Central Park window where you can order sushi and a bubble cone. There are several varieties, and I opted for Cookies & Cream.
Take a Dip in One of the Pools
You’ll want to explore the many pools on board Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas. These include larger pools on the pool deck and smaller, adult-only options in the Solarium. There are plenty of chairs around the pool, and you can also enjoy pool and beach time at the ship’s stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Ride the FlowRider
Surfing at sea? Head up to the sports deck in the aft of the ship to experience the FlowRider. It’s free to guests and can be busy, especially on sea days.
Learn to Make Sushi
One of my favorite things to do onboard the Utopia of the Seas was the sushi-making class. This class is offered for an extra fee and needs to be booked in advance. During the class, we prepared a plate of maki, nigiri, and a rolled cone, and we enjoyed eating our creations when we were done.
Ride the Carousel
Like the other Oasis Class ships, Utopia of the Seas offers an open-air boardwalk area. The centerpiece of the Boardwalk is the carousel. Guests can ride the carousel, weather permitting, at no extra cost.
Experience Thrills on the Perfect Storm
The Perfect Storm is a three-waterslide unit on the Utopia of the Seas pool deck. Typhoon and Cyclone are twin racer slides, while the Supercell starts as a regular slide into a champagne bowl where you’ll spin around. Kids will love this trio of slides.
Play Mini Golf
The Aqua Dunes mini golf course is an open-air course located on the sports deck in the aft section of the ship. It’s free and first come, first served.
Eat, Eat, Eat
Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas offers dozens of food options. Some are included in your cruise price, while others are offered at an additional fee. The specialty restaurants on board the ship are very popular, and reservations should be made in advance where possible.
Zipline
Utopia of the Seas offers a zipline on the sports deck that sails over the Boardwalk area. To try it, bring closed-toed shoes and a shirt with sleeves (no tank tops).
