Lobster rolls are a ubiquitous summer vacation food in Cape Cod, and luckily there are many different places where you’ll find it on the menu. While many tourists debate about the best way to serve it – hot with butter or cold with mayo, most vacationers to Cape Cod agree that the lobster roll is a quintessential summer treat. Here are some options if you want to try a lobster roll on your Cape Cod vacation. Remember to always check the market price as lobster rolls are typically priced this way.
The Doghouse, Dennis Port
The Doghouse is one of our must-visits on Cape Cod. This casual, outdoor eatery offers many different styles of hot dogs, but they often have a lobster roll on the menu. If you are of drinking age, try one of their delicious frosés along with your lobster roll.
The Black Cat, Hyannis
The Black Cat offers three different, adjacent locations along the Hyannis waterfront – the Tavern, the Harbor Shack, and the Raw Bar. Their giant lobster roll comes with pickles and chips – try to sit outside if you can. See more about things to do in Hyannis here.
The Original Seafood, Dennisport
The Original Seafood in Dennisport, MA offers many different popular seafood specialties, including fried clams and lobster rolls. Most diners will enjoy the standard lobster roll, but there’s also the ¾ pound lobster bomb if you are especially hungry or want to share.
Cobies Clam Shack, Brewster
This Brewster restaurant, located along Route 6A, is right near Ocean Edge Resort. They offer both hot and cold lobster rolls as well as fried clams, salads, burgers, and more. There’s plenty of outdoor seating.
Heart of the Sea, Harwich
Heart of the Sea is a newer Cape Cod restaurant, located in a strip mall in Harwich. While there are a few tables, it’s best for takeout. Throughout the year, they offer regular specials, and in the past, these have included lobster rolls with a cup of fish chowder.
Holly’s Deli, West Dennis
Stop at this popular West Dennis deli before visiting the beach. They do have some tables inside, in case you’d prefer to eat there. If you are looking for a lobster roll, they offer two sizes, the 6 oz and the King Lobby (9 oz).
Sesuit Harbor Cafe, Dennis
The seasonal Sesuit Harbor Cafe is one of the most popular restaurants on Cape Cod in the summer. It’s cash only and BYOB, so be prepared before you go. Wait in line to place your order, and then find a seat along the water.
The Raw Bar at Popponesset Marketplace, Mashpee
You’ll find the Raw Bar in the Popponnesset Marketplace. It’s one of my favorite places to get a lobster roll – the Colossal lobster roll is huge, so make sure you are hungry (or have someone to share with).
Skipper Chowder House, South Yarmouth
One of my favorite restaurants on Cape Cod is the two-story Skipper Chowder House, located in South Yarmouth. They don’t accept reservations, so it’s best to arrive early. You can wait for your table at the beach across the street. The Skipper Chowder House offers three lobster rolls – the traditional lobster roll, Skipper’s Lobster Roll Supreme (a half lb, served cold), or the Wicked Awesome (a half lb, served hot). See more restaurants in Yarmouth here.
