When we were planning our Seattle family vacation, I was fairly open to which hotel we would stay in. I booked the trip through Jetblue Vacations and had several Seattle hotel options. When I saw the Hotel FIVE – a Staypineapple Seattle hotel on the list, I was unfamiliar with this unique brand.
After looking at some online reviews and checking out the great location, I decided to book the Hotel FIVE Seattle as our home base. We loved this eclectic little hotel, and would recommend a stay there for either a business stay or a family vacation.

As a Seattle-based chain, there are currently four Staypineapple Seattle hotels. These include the Hotel FIVE, the Watertown Hotel University District, the University Inn University District, and the Maxwell Hotel Seattle Center.
We only visited Hotel FIVE, so I can’t speak to the experiences at the other locations. However, many amenities are consistent across the small chain. We had a fun stay, and I would book a stay at this trendy chain for another vacation.
Review of Hotel FIVE – A Staypineapple Seattle Hotel
Location of Hotel FIVE
Our primary reason for booking Hotel FIVE was the great location. It’s in downtown Seattle, between Pike Place Market and the Space Needle. We could walk to most of the Seattle attractions we wanted to visit.
If you are flying into Seattle, you’ll arrive at the SeaTac Airport. After arriving, we rode the shuttle to the rental car facility and got our car. A quick 30-minute drive later, we were at the hotel.
Parking is available at Hotel FIVE, but it isn’t cheap. There’s a small lot behind the hotel with additional parking underground. Think about whether or not you need a car during your trip. We spent a lot on parking and rental car fees and probably could have used ride-share services and ZipCar.
In addition to the parking fee, there’s also an amenities fee. Although we did prepay for everything through JetBlue Vacations, we paid the parking and resort fees separately. The amenities fee covers the various amenities offered by the hotel, including complimentary coffee and water.
Our cross-country flight landed early in Seattle, and we checked in right around lunchtime. Despite arriving before check-in time, our room was ready. Of course, that is never guaranteed.
In the immediate neighborhood of the Hotel FIVE Seattle, you’ll find shops, restaurants, coffee shops, pharmacies, a cinema, and more. Seattle Center, which is the home of several museums as well as the Space Needle, is about a fifteen-minute walk away.
Rooms at the Hotel
When booking your room at the Hotel FIVE – Staypineapple Seattle, you’ll have several different room types to choose from. These include the following:
- An urban queen, with one queen bed
- An urban two-queen, with two queen beds
- An urban king, with one king bed
- An urban suite with a king bed and a pull-out couch
We booked the Urban Queen for our family of four. These rooms aren’t huge but are packed with lots of fun, funky amenities. The rooms feature Keurig coffee makers, complimentary water, televisions, free WiFi, a small chair, a desk, a charging area, and Tommy Bahama toiletries in large dispensers attached to the shower.
The design of these rooms is eclectic and fun, with bright colors and modern accents. They are also filled with the pineapple motif, which is quirky and bright.
There are also exclusive Staypineapple items for purchase within the room. There’s a stuffed animal of the hotel’s mascot Dash, which can be purchased.
You’ll also find pineapple coffee mugs, a snack box, and yellow robes. The mugs and robes can be used in the room, and you can purchase them if you’d like to bring them home.
The rooms at the Hotel FIVE – Staypineapple Hotel also feature their proprietary “Naked Experience” bed. These beds include double duvets rather than standard bedding (although standard bedding is available). These duvets are so soft and comfortable, and the double duvets mean that there’s no fighting for covers.
While the room was a bit small for our family of four, we didn’t spend much time in the room. There are also no real views at the hotel – it’s not on the water and none of the rooms face the Space Needle.
Again, that wasn’t an issue for us at all, as we enjoyed the room design, fun amenities, and location. But it’s a factor to consider if the view is important to you.
Amenities at the Hotel
In addition to a great location and fun rooms, the Hotel FIVE downtown Seattle offers lots of family-friendly amenities.
My favorite part of the hotel was the lively and bright lobby, which was almost always filled with guests enjoying the hotel. It was never overcrowded but had a fun community atmosphere.
The lobby isn’t large but features plenty of seating as well as games like Connect Four and table shuffleboard. During the afternoon, the hotel served snacks like pineapple cupcakes and cookies, as well as freshly brewed coffee. I was ready for a cup of coffee in the afternoon, and it was nice to get a complimentary one right in the hotel.
There’s also a happy hour, with half-price well drinks, wine, and beer. You can enjoy it in the hotel’s bistro, in your room, or the lobby. While there was a hotel restaurant in the past, it seems to have closed.
Complimentary bike rentals are also offered by the hotel. We didn’t borrow them during our stay, but I saw lots of guests getting them for a morning or afternoon trip.
There’s also a small fitness center off the lobby. It wasn’t too full but did have some basic cardio equipment and hand weights.
